Shirley Jean (Warner) Turner, 87, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care Saturday, September 12, 2026, at SpiriTrust Lutheran with her loving family by her side.
One of 12 children, born August 7, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ada (Mundorff) Warner.
Shirley married the love of her life, Robert O’Neil Turner, on May 20, 1956. Together they welcomed 8 children, created countless memories, and shared 48 years together until his passing in 2004. They worked hard, each filling different roles to provide for their large family. After her first role as mother, Shirley was employed at Burger King and retired from Aneco Trouser’s where she worked as a presser for 15 years.
Shirley was a member of Bethel United Church, Spring Grove.
Shirley was especially proud of her hard-working children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a legacy carried on by the example set by she and Bob.
She enjoyed cooking and baking, camping, playing cards, BINGO, Country music, cheering on the Orioles and Steelers, and having a good laugh. Shirley’s greatest joy was her family and time spent tougher. She delighted in the births of each new grandchild and great-grandchild.
Her family finds comfort knowing she’s reunited with her husband, sons Carl and Dennis, grandson Terry Hawkins and great-grandson Xavier Blue. She was also predeceased by her siblings: Ralph, Earl, Arthur, Doris, Melvin, Clair and her twin brother, Burley.
Left to cherish her memory are children: Sharon Breighner (Michael), Donna Stockslager (Richard), Jean Turner (Guillermo Santiago), Dean Turner (Angie), Tina Costley (Darrell) and Beverly Kuentzler (Albert), 18 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Robert Warner, Richard Warner, Nadine Trone and Anna M. Allshouse, as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A funeral service to celebrate Shirley’ life and remember her will be held 11AM, Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with her pastor Rev. Zoe Koggle officiating. Burial will be in the Pines Cemetery, New Chester, PA. A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10-11AM, Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the funeral home.
