Shirley M. Boczek

Shirley M. Boczek, 90, of Hanover, PA entered into God’s eternal care on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the UPMC Hanover Hospital.

Born September 24, 1935, in Hampstead, MD, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Leona C. (Hensley) Coppersmith.  Shirley was the loving wife of Lothar M. Boczek with whom she shared 70 years of marriage.

Shirley was a 1953 graduate of Hampstead High School, Hampstead, MD.  She worked for 21 years in food service for the Carroll County Board of Education until her retirement in 1998.

Shirley was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover, PA and was a member and former financial secretary of the Edelweiss Club, Inc. of Baltimore, MD.

In addition to her husband Lothar, Shirley is survived by her children, David B. Boczek and wife Jennifer of York, PA, Christopher M. Boczek and wife Lillie of Philadelphia, PA, Patricia A. Ward-Siegfried and husband Alan of Selbyville, DE, and Deborah S. Null of Hanover, PA, eight grandchildren, David Boczek, Bonnie Hintenach, Luke Boczek, Jason Boczek, Barbara Boczek, Ryan Ward, Jeffrey Ward, Amanda Runk, five great grandchildren, Madyson Boczek, Brantley Currens, Wells Ward, Madeline Ward, and Cooper Ward, and a sister, Virginia L. Gesell of Manchester, MD.  She was preceded in death by her brothers, Russell Hensley and Richard L. Coppersmith.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM, Thursday, March 26, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church 5055 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA with Father Michael Rothan as celebrant.  Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, Hanover, PA.  The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 AM, Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the church.
