Sonya Harbold

Sonya (Stauffer) Harbold, 86, of Hanover, PA, entered into God’s eternal care Sunday, December 22, 2024, at her home with her loving family by her side.

Born October 23, 1938, in Gettysburg, PA, (Adams County), she was the daughter of the late Cecil A. Fout and her dearly beloved mother, Buelta “Ann” (Wilkins) Fout Sterner. 

Sonya was the wife of the late Charles H. Harbold, to whom she was married (9) years until his passing; December 2003, and the late Fred E. Stauffer to whom she was married for (25) years until his passing; April 1982.

Sonya was a graduate with the Class of 1956 at Eichelberger High School and was a member of Grace UCC, Hanover.  Formerly a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, York Street, Hanover for 24 years where she served on church council, president of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Women, assistant leader for Girl Scouts and helped with youth programs.  She retired from RAYCOM Electronics, Inc., Dover PA in June 1994 as a sales secretary.

Sonya is survived by her daughter, Kelly A. Garrett and husband Russ, two grandsons, Justin R. and Marshall A. Garrett, all of Hanover.  Other survivors are a sister, Carolyn Y. Graffius, York, PA, a nephew William Scott Graffius with wife, Karren with two children, Aaron Graffius, Ashlee Ware, and sister-in-law, Mildred A. Fout, Hanover, PA.   Sonya was preceded in death by a beloved brother, Paul C. Fout; a nephew, Lee E. Graffius; and a brother-in-law, Ernie Graffius.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA with The Rev. Fred Young officiating.  Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA.  Visitation will be held (1) hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sonya’s name to Grace UCC’s Music Program, 200 Fourth Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
