Stephen Garrett

Stephen Garrett, 84, of Hanover, PA, entered God's eternal care, Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Gettysburg Center.

Born January 15, 1940, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Richard and Mary (Sterner) Garrett.  Stephen was the loving husband of Peggy E. (Wise) Garrett with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. 

Stephen was a member of Grace Church of  Hanover, the Hanover Elks, the Hanover Republican Club, and the McSherrystown Moose.

Stephen was a 1958 graduate of Eichelberger High School.  He was a veteran, having served his country proudly in the United States Army.  He retired as a computer programmer after 10 years of service with the former P. H. Glatfelter Company.

Stephen was an avid NASCAR and football fan.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Peggy, Stephen is survived by three children, Keith A. Garrett & his wife Janice of Hanover, PA, Tracey G. Sartoris & her fiancé John Pepmeyer of Pittsburgh, PA, and Kevin A. Garrett & his wife Cindy of Hanover, PA, and five grandchildren, Ryan Garrett, Anthony Sartoris, Graceann Sartoris, Melia Garrett, and Andrew Garrett & his wife Pamela.

A memorial service to celebrate and remember Stephen will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with his Pastor the Rev. Todd A. Christine officiating.  Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA, with the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail providing Military Honors.  A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10 – 11 AM, Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the funeral home.
