Stephen J. Mallon

Stephen J. Mallon, 84, of New Oxford, PA, entered God's eternal care, Sunday, August 7, 2022, at the Brethren Home. 

Born August 25, 1937, in Baltimore City, Maryland, he was the son of the late Stephen and Matilda (O’Sullivan) Mallon.  Steve was the loving husband of Nancy L. (Hefferan) Mallon with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.

Steve was a veteran and served his country proudly in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1962.

Steve operated and ran his own agency as an Insurance Broker for I.R.O., Inc for 40 years until his retirement.

Steve was a member of Sacred Heart Basilica Catholic Church, Hanover, PA, the Hanover Knights of Columbus, and the Hanover V.F.W.  Post 2506.

Steve enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as family road trips.  His support for his children and grandchildren and their activities was unwavering as he attended any event near or far.  Steve took great pride in the little things that made his home so special.

In addition to his wife Nancy, Steve is survived by his children, Margaret J. Nestor of Largo, FL, Amy E. Mallon of Collingswood, NJ, Stephen J. Mallon, Jr. of Avon, CT, and Catherine Vingsen of Hanover, PA, 8 grandchildren, one brother, Michael Mallon of Bethany, Beach, DE, and two sisters, Barbara Connors of Rockville, MD and Kathleen Radican of Vienna, VA.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Mallon

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM, Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Sacred Heart Basilica Catholic Church, 30 Basilica Drive, Hanover, PA, with Father Lawrence McNeil as celebrant.  Burial will be in Sacred Heart Church Cemetery, Hanover, PA with the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard Burial detail providing Military Honors.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Friday, August 12, 2022, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA as well as from 10-11 AM, Saturday, August 13, 2022, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Steve’s memory to the Hospice program of the VNA of Hanover & Spring Grove, 440 Madison Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
