Theresa G. Schuman, 93, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care Sunday, April 18, 2021 peacefully at her home with her loving family by her side.
Born April 8, 1928 in McSherrystown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Bernadette (Murren) Groft. Theresa was the loving wife of the late Earl L. Schuman with whom she shared 70 years of marriage until his passing on October 26, 2017.
Theresa was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Hanover, PA.
Theresa was a 1946 graduate of Delone Catholic High School. She was a secretary for the Hanover Shoe Company and retired from Clark’s with over thirty years of service.
Theresa enjoyed working in her garden and weeding, and she loved and was dedicated to raising her family.
Theresa is survived by her children, Robert E. Schuman of McSherrystown, PA, Gary M. Schuman of Hanover, PA, Debra J. Keener of East Berlin, PA, Andra T. Slaybaugh of New Oxford, PA, and Kyle D. Schuman of San Diego, CA; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; a brother, Richard Groft of New Oxford, PA; and three sisters, Dolores Groft of McSherrystown, and Sylvia Hartzell and Margaret Knox, both of Gettysburg, PA. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Groft; and a sister, Joan Rudisill.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, April 23, 2021 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 220 Third Street, Hanover, PA, with Father Michael P. Reid, II as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Hanover, PA. Covid 19 protocols will be followed and masks must be worn.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Theresa’s name to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 220 Third Street, Hanover, PA 17331, or to the Hospice program of the VNA of Hanover & Spring Grove, 440 Madison Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
