Thomas S. Akers

Thomas S. Akers, 74, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care Sunday, November 10, 2024, at UPMC York Memorial Hospital. 

Born May 18, 1950 in Hollidaysburg, PA, he was the son of the late Robert L. and Joyce (Kirkland) Akers.

Tom was a 1968 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area High School, Hollidaysburg, PA; and received a B.S. in Arts and Sciences from Penn State University in 1972.  Tom was employed in various roles in the hospitality and retail industries throughout his life. Tom’s biggest role was as a valued brother, friend, uncle, cousin, and father figure to his entire family.  

Tom loved music and played guitar in bands and with friends.  He enjoyed playing tennis, sailing, and spending time with his family.

Tom is survived by his sister, Ann (Akers) Mellott, and six nieces and nephews, David Kimberly, Michael Kimberly, Wendy Tokheim, Kevin Hayward, Jon Akers, and Samara Akers. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ellen K. (Akers) Kimberly and his brother Robert Kirkland Akers.

Following cremation, services will be held at a later date in Hollidaysburg, PA.
