Thomas J. Vender

Thomas Jon Vender, 82, of Glenville, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Friday, April 14, 2023, at the Hershey Medical Center with his loving family by his side.

Born February 26, 1941, in Bayonne, NJ, he was the son of the late Frank and Anna (Kosiorowski) Vender. Thomas was the loving husband of Carrie F. (McCartney) Vender with whom he shared 13 years of marriage and the late Marilynn (Taddevo) Vender who died  January 14, 1993.

In addition to his loving wife, Carrie, Thomas is survived by his daughter, Lydia A. Vender-Fischioni and her husband Alfredo Fischioni of Moorestown, NJ, his step children, Jill H. Trostle and her companion Gary Parrish of Hanover, PA, James M. Helm, Jr. and his wife Deborah of Spring Grove, PA, and Jon A. Helm and his wife Shelly of Gettysburg, PA, 2 grandchildren, Olivia Fischioni and Luca Fischioni, 5 step grandchildren, Matthew Helm, Cory Helm, Wesley Trostle, Wyatt Trostle, and Emily Helm, 3 step great grandchildren, and 1 sister, Frances Koropsak.  He was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Tonilynn Vender, and Melissa V. Vender, and 2 sisters, Bernice Campan and Juliann Gluchowski.

Thomas was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA, and the Hanover Eagles Club.  He had a 59-year career in telecommunications where he started as a draftsman and retired as a planning and design engineer for cellular sites. He worked for Bell, A.T.&T., and Lucent and was credited with two patents.  Thomas was a collector of many things, but will be remembered for his ability to fix, build, or make anything.

Viewings and times to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, April 18, 2023, and from 1-2 PM, Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA.  A funeral service to celebrate and remember Thomas will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Wesley Bunting officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA.
