Vance E. Stabley, 93, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Friday, April 1, 2022, at UPMC Hanover.
Born October 16, 1928, in York, PA he was the son of the late Wilbur W. and Charlotte (Swigert) Stabley. Vance was the loving husband of Marian J. (Eshelman) Stabley with whom he shared 65 years of marriage
Vance was a 1946 graduate of William Penn High School. He immediately went into the Navy and proudly served during World War II.
Vance retired from Tate Engineering in Baltimore.
Vance was a member of the St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA.
Vance was a life member and past President of the Hanover Lion’s Club. He served as a zone chairman and region chairman for 14 C. He was elected District Governor of 14 C from 1981 – 1982, was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow Award and the International Presidents Award second highest honor given by Lions International. He was a life member and past president of Pennsylvania Counselors, life and charter member of the Pennsylvania Pavilion Wills Eye Hospital, member of the Hanover Elks Lodge 763, and a member and past resident of the Arcadian Social Club.
Vance was an avid golfer and Crimson Tide sports fan.
In addition to his wife Marian, he is survived by his daughter Carla J. Stabley of Houston, TX, his son, Vance E. Stabley II of Ruffsdale, PA, four grandsons, two great granddaughters, and two great grandsons.
A memorial service to remember Vance’s life will be held 2 PM, Saturday, April 16, 2022, at St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, 129 Charles Street, Hanover, PA, with his Pastor the Rev. Kirk Griffin officiating. A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 1-2PM, Saturday, April 16, 2022, in the church parlor. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
