Vaughn “Dan” L. Rich,73, of Glenville, PA, entered God's eternal care Monday, March 30, 2026, at UPMC Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Born September 10, 1952, in Latrobe, PA, he was the son of the late Peter C. and Blanche H. (Johns) Rich. Dan was the loving husband of Elizabeth J. (Peltz) Rich with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Dan was a veteran and served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Viet Nam War, followed by a tour in Thailand.
Dan was a member York Christian Fellowship, York, PA.
Dan was a graduate of Derry Area Senior High School, Derry, PA. He received an Associates of Arts from the University of Maryland, and a Master's of Arts in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix.
Dan worked for the Department of Defense for 35 years until his retirement in 2009. During that time, he completed a tour of duty at Menwith Hill Station, Harrogate England and Sugar Grove, West Virginia.
Dan loved hunting, fishing, golf, music, was a HAM Radio operator and an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He was a great cook, cooking together with his wife and
enjoyed doing steaks on the grill; but his most favorite times were those times spent with his family and friends. He truly enjoyed fishing with Danny, car rides with Tina, watching and listening to "Murdock, murder mysteries" with Sara and Ashley and exchanging sarcastic remarks with his daughter-in-law, Cortney.
In addition to his loving wife, Elizabeth, Dan is survived by a son, Daniel L. Rich and wife Cortney; daughter Christina M. Rich; two grandchildren, Sara and Ashley; and brother, Peter Rich. He was preceded in death by a son, Patrick J. Rich; a sister, Sandra Rich; and a brother, Richard Rich.
