Violet N. Kidwell

Violet N. “Vi” Kidwell, 97, of Hanover, PA, passed away peacefully, Saturday, January 22, 2022, at the York View Nursing Center.

Born June 18, 1924 in Clear Spring, MD, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. and Gladys M. (Johnson) Kidwell. 

Vi was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hanover, PA.  She retired in 1984 after many years of service as a clerk for the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.

Vi enjoyed reading, participating in church activities and women’s groups, playing the organ and spending time with her family.

Vi is survived by her niece, Kathy L. Chronister and husband Neil, and her nephew Dean M. Garrett, II and wife Lori.   She was preceded in death by a brother Carl M. Kidwell, and two sisters, Mary R. “Rosie” Garrett and Lois A. Kidwell.

A funeral service to remember Vi’s life will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 29, 2022, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with her Pastor, the Rev. Dr. B. Michael Brossman officiating.  Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg, PA.  A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10 AM to 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 29, 2022, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Vi’s name to First United Methodist Church, 200 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
