Violet V. Matthews

Violet V. Matthews, 95, of Hanover, PA, entered into God’s eternal care on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at her home with her loving family by her side.

Born March 20, 1930 in Union Mills, MD, she was the daughter of the late William L. and Alverta M. (Myers) Mathias.  Violet was the loving wife of the late Richard E. Matthews with whom she shared 63 years of marriage until his passing on November 10, 2014.

Violet was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran church, Hanover, PA.  She worked as a custodian for the South Western Public School District for many years until her retirement.

Violet is survived by her son, David W. Matthews of Hanover, PA, and a granddaughter, Lisa Weaver of New Oxford, PA.  She was preceded in death by her siblings, Madeline Price, John Mathias, Ella Pascoe, Lima Sterner and Evelyn McGurk.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.  Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA.
