Walter J. "Pete" Chrismer Obituary

Walter J. “Pete” Chrismer, 84, of Bonneauville, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Thursday, November 16, 2023, at WellSpan York Hospital with his loving family by his side.

Born August 29, 1939, in Bonneauville, PA, he was the son of the late Earl Chrismer and Martha (Raffensberger) Chrismer Elicker.  Pete was the loving husband of the late Mary F. (Chrismer) Chrismer and the late Ruth M. “Toots” (Horwedel) Chrismer.    

Pete was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church,  Bonneauville, PA., the Littlestown Eagles, the Catholic War Vets Post 1342, the New Oxford Fish & Game Association, the Adams County Fish and Game Association, as well as a life member of the McSherrystown Home Association.

Pete retired in 2002, with forty years of service, working for Adams Electric Company as a Journeyman lineman.

Pete enjoyed gardening, hunting, watching, and feeding the birds and rabbits from his back porch, spending time at his cabin, but especially loved being with his family and grandchildren.

Pete is survived by his children, Randall G. Chrismer and wife Katharine of Abbottstown, PA, Kieran J. Chrismer of Bonneauville, PA, Stacia L. Welty of Huntingdon, PA, Dana M. Chrismer and companion Dan Grove of Mt. Wolf, PA, and Corey J. Chrismer of Westminster, MD; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three siblings, Joyce Hartlaub, Wayne Chrismer, and Terry Chrismer.  He was preceded in death by two sons, Nicholas F. Chrismer and Brian J. Chrismer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00AM, Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 12 East Hanover Street, Gettysburg (Bonneauville), PA, with Father Benny Jose as celebrant.  Burial will be in St. Joseph the Worker Church Cemetery.  A visitation and time to share memories with family will be held from 6:00-8:00PM, Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 66 East Hanover Street, Gettysburg (Bonneauville), PA.  

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Pete’s name to St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 12 East Hanover Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
