Wayne P. Fanus

Wayne P. Fanus, 83, of New Oxford, PA and formerly of Hanover, PA, entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, January 2, 2026 at the UPMC Harrisburg Hospital.

Born November 4, 1942 in Hanover, PA he was the son of the late Alton and Marie (Alwine) Fanus.  Wayne was the loving husband of Carolyn J. (Gouker) Fanus with whom he shares 43 years of marriage.

Wayne was a 1960 graduate of Delone Catholic High School, McSherrystown, PA.  He was a postal clerk for The United States Postal Service in Hanover for 39 years until his retirement.

Wayne was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover, PA.  He enjoyed bowling, playing corn hole, and traveling.  He especially loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife Carolyn, Wayne is survived by his children, Kenneth A. Fanus of Hanover, PA, Christina F. Hurst and husband Jon of Locust Grove, VA, and three grandchildren, Zachary Garlick, Elle Hurst, and Josh Hurst.  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joanna M. Selby.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM, Thursday, January 8, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5055 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA, with Father Cole Mase as Celebrant.  Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, Hanover, PA.  A visitation will be held from 10 -11 Am, Thursday, January 8, 2026 at the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5055 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA 17331.
