William E. Zumbrum

William E. Zumbrum, 91, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care Monday, November 18, 2024, at Homewood at Plum Creek Nursing Center with his loving family by his side.    

Born May 6, 1933, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late John and Treva (Berwager) Zumbrum.  William was the loving husband of the late Shirley (Renoll) Zumbrum, with whom he shared fifty-six years of marriage until her passing on January 17, 2009. 

William was an electrician with J.Z. Barton, York, PA, for thirty-three years until his retirement in 1977.

William was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ, Hanover, PA, serving on the consistory for six years, and a member of the Hanover Home Association.

William was an avid bowler and was a member of the South Hanover Bowling Club, scored a perfect game - 300, and bowled in a few national tournaments.  He enjoyed playing BINGO, square dancing, and spending time with his family.

William is survived by two sons, William “Bill” Zumbrum and wife Linda of Thomasville, PA, and Jeffrey A. Zumbrum of Dover, PA; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and four siblings, Doris L. Sterner of Hanover, PA, David L. Zumbrum of New Oxford, PA, George L. Zumbrum of Hanover, PA, and Charles L. Zumbrum of Spring Grove, PA.  He was preceded in death by his siblings, Janet R. Senft, Roy B. Zumbrum, and Harold E. Zumbrum.

The family would like to thank the staffs at Homewood at Plum Creek and the VNA of Hanover & Spring Grove for the love and care given to William these last few months.

A service to celebrate William’s life will be held 11AM, Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with his Pastor, Rev. Zoe D'heedene officiating.  Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA.  A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10-11AM, Friday, November 22, 2024, at the funeral home.
