Wilson E. "Bix/Bill" Bixler, Jr. Obituary

Wilson E. “Bix/Bill” Bixler, Jr., 91, of Hanover, PA, entered into God's eternal care, Saturday, February 14, 2026, at UPMC Hanover Hospital.

Born June 12, 1934, in Hanover, he was the son of the late Wilson E. Bixler, Sr. and Mary I. (Bankert) Bixler. Bix was the loving husband of Clotilde M. “Clodie” (Mudge) Bixler with whom he shared 37 years of marriage until her passing on Friday, July 30, 2021.  

Bill was a developer and contractor and the owner and operator of Suburban Builders for over 25 years until his retirement.

Bill enjoyed hunting, deep sea fishing and cooking. He was an excellent cook who was especially known for his soups. Food was his love language. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially over a meal at his favorite restaurants. Stopping by the Hanover Market was a Saturday morning tradition. In his later years he listened to and appreciated gospel music. He found joy in helping others.

Bix was a lifetime member of the Hanover Republican Club, and a member of Hanover Elks Lodge 763, Littlestown Fraternal Order of the Eagles #2226, Hanover Home Assoc. and the McSherrystown Moose Lodge 720. He was a member of St. Bartholomew’s United Church (ELCA), Hanover.

Bill is survived by his children, Diane Buvia, Christine Myers and husband Mark, and Larry Bixler; his stepchildren, David Stambaugh, and Debbi Stambaugh; five granddaughters,Tammy, Mandi, Jenny, Sarah, and Hannah; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two stepsons, Dane Stambaugh and Doug Stambaugh, and great-granddaughter, Becca McClellan; two brothers, Marlyn Bixler and Harold Bixler, and two sisters, Doris  "Nadine" Gladfelter and Alice Hull. 

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 50 King St. York, PA 17401, or to the VNA of Hanover and Spring Grove, 440 Madison Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
