Christopher S. “Chris” Hertz, 55, of Gettysburg, PA, entered into God’s eternal care surrounded by his family, Sunday, June 12, 2016 at his home.

Born October 26, 1960, in Hanover, PA, he was the son Jack F. and Kay (Miller) Hertz of Gettysburg and the late Judith E. “Judy” (Haifley) and Larry Heintzelman.  

Chris was a 1979 graduate of Delone Catholic High School. He was an extremely gifted and award winning Master Wildlife Taxidermist for 32 years. He earned the esteemed recognition of state and regional champion. He was also a member of the Pennsylvania Taxidermy Association.

He enjoyed hunting, especially for turkey and fishing. Twelve days ago, with the assistance of his family, he was able to make it out to the woods one last time.

In addition to his father and step-mother, Chris is survived by his sons, Skylar L. Hertz and Kolbi C. Hertz, both of Gettysburg; his sisters, Diane Dean of Gettysburg and Sally Miller of New Oxford; his brother, Ashley Hertz of Gettysburg; his nieces, Amber, Tessa and Alesha; his nephew, Jesse; and numerous great nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service to celebrate and remember Chris’s life will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA.  A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00-11:00AM, Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Chris’s memory may be made to Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA 17331 to help defray the cost of the funeral.
