Patsy Marie (Moul) Bortner, 73, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Hanover Hospital with her loving family by her side. 

Born December 23, 1943, in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of Mary (Tracy) Moul and the late Philip Moul.  Patsy was the loving wife of Lamar E. Bortner with whom she shared 55 years of marriage.  

Mrs. Bortner graduated from South Western High School in 1961.  She attended Cornell University for 2 years before transferring to the University of Maryland where she received her B.S in Education.  She received her Master’s in Education from Shippensburg University.

Patsy taught at South Western for 13 years and then joined her husband in their family business.  She was currently a partner in the Warehouse Gourmet Restaurant.

Mrs. Bortner was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Hanover, PA, a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority.  She was an avid reader and loved her family and especially being part of her grandchildren’s lives.

In addition to her husband Lamar, Patsy is survived by two daughters, Lauren R. Gerlach and husband Brian of Hanover, PA, Melinda C. Stambaugh and husband Keith of Hanover, PA, eight grandchildren, Thomas and wife Nicole, Philip, Jacob, Caleb, Saranda, Ethan, Malcolm, and Cooper, one great grandchild, Carson, and three sisters, Louise Jira of Hunt Valley, MD, Jeanne Hull and her husband Dr. James Hull of Walkersville, MD, and Becky Price and her husband Raymond of Keymar, MD.

A service to celebrate and remember Patsy’s life will be held 2 PM, Saturday, February 18, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, 200 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with her Pastor, the Rev. Greg A. Rapp officiating.  Burial will be in St. David’s Church Cemetery, Hanover, PA.  there will be no viewing. 

Memorial contributions may be made in Patsy’s memory to the Hanover Hospital Patient Fund, 300 Highland Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331.
