Verna C. Rebert, 89, of Hanover, PA, entered into God’s eternal care, Tuesday, June 21, 2016 with family by her side.

Born April 25, 1927 in Jackson Township, PA, she was the daughter of the late Emory L. and Lula R. (Riley) Mummert. She was the loving wife of Stewart S. Rebert with whom she shared 57 years of marriage.

Verna owned and operated Grandview Beauty Salon until her retirement in 1989.

Mrs. Rebert was a member of St. David’s (Sherman) United Church of Christ, Hanover, PA where she served on various committees including the Mission Committee. During this time, she participated in the Pauline Hess Sunday School Class and spent many hours making chicken corn soup for social events. Verna was a representative for Homewood at Plum Creek of Hanover and the Hoffman Home for Children. She also donated her time to the PAL Lunch Program.

Verna crocheted many afghans, bedspreads, tablecloths and doilies as gifts for family and friends. She loved baking cookies and would make cookie plates to share at Christmas that consisted of ten to twenty varieties. Time spent tending to her roses was important to her but she greatly treasured the moments shared with her family.

In addition to her husband Stewart, Verna is survived by her daughter, Julie Conrad and husband Timothy of Hanover, her step-daughter, Donna Adams and her husband Dwight “Squire” Adams of Sherrills Ford, NC, grandchildren; Joshua Gunnet and wife Susan, Krystle Conrad and husband Michael, Lucas Conrad, Justin Adams and wife Jennifer, Juel Adams Boes and husband Nick, Jarrod Adams and wife Shanon, great-grandchildren; Brady, Bryce, Shane, Sophie, Kiera, Keilan, Karson, Ryan, Laine, Eli, Isabel, brothers; Marvin Mummert and wife Anna Mae, Glen Mummert and wife Nancy, Gerald Mummert and wife Sonja and her sister Helen Kraft and husband John. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Penny Becker Gunnet, her brother, David Mummert and her sister, Anna Warner.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 24, 2016 at St. David’s (Sherman) United Church of Christ, 142 Hobart Road, Hanover, PA with her pastor, the Rev. Scott A. Sager officiating. A viewing will be held from 1-2 PM, Friday at the church. Following cremation, burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Verna to St. David’s (Sherman) United Church of Christ, 142 Hobart Road, Hanover, PA 17331.
